Hazards & Gimmicks - A Smash Bros. Retrospective

Stage hazards have existed in games since Player 2's demise. Without a second player the system needs to come in to give us challenge and aiding the system is game design. Enemy characters are the most distinguishable form of hazard, they give us something to identify which stands out from the world, but really anything that hinders your progress can be considered a hazard. Fighters typically lack hazards to keep the focus of gameplay between the two players, however platform fighters, like Smash, have the ability to expand on this, and it's pretty cool!

In this video I take a look at Super Smash Bros. on the N64, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the Wii U one, the 3DS one, even the one on the Wii! And Melee, but i'm not good at that one...
