Dr. Sterling L. Carter, DPT, MS, CSCS
Welcome to Sterling Physical Therapy, I'm Dr. Sterling Carter. One of our fans asked us to talk about the difference between massage therapy and physical therapy so lets get to it!
Let's start with Massage Therapy. Massage Therapy involves the manipulation of body tissue to facilitate stress and pain reduction. This one-tiered approach is able to assist with some, but not all of the medical needs of the patients we see here at Sterling Physical Therapy.
Massage Therapy is a useful tool in our toolbelt as Physical Therapist, but this treatment technique is used in addition to modern equipment, wellness plans, and new technology. One example of our enhanced treatments is our spinal decompression machine to assist clients with back pain. Massage therapy may have some positive effects, but the use of this machine allows us to greatly enhances results for our patients.
Every patient that comes into our center receives a custom treatment plan that is best suited for their individual needs. Our use of new technology, updated treatment techniques, and customized wellness plans allows us to take a more holistic approach to getting people back on track.
