I had yet another comment recently that blockchain is just a bad database. In this video, I try to frame the problem that blockchain is actually trying to solve - namely decentralized recording of ownership of digital, virtual or abstract things. This problem is not trivial, and we have historically solved it through central authorities: banks, courts, and governments. If you're tackling a purely technical problem that boils down to storing and retrieving data, then a database is a more sensible solution. If you're trying to solve a socio-economic problem, then a database may not be as good a solution as a blockchain.
