Footage of Dean Saunders arrest after he failed to supply breath test

Footage of Dean Saunders arrest after he failed to supply breath test Footage has emerged of the moment Dean Saunders was arrested by police in the incident which landed him with a jail sentence .   The former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker has been bailed pending an appeal after failing to supply a breath test to officers back in May.   Police pulled the talkSPORT and BT Sport pundit over on suspicion of drink-driving after spotting him "nearly causing a serious accident" in Chester city centre.  Saunders claimed he had been at Chester races that day, and the video shows the 55-year-old telling officers: "I've only had one pint."   As reported by the Liverpool Echo , the footage from a police bodycam was released by the Crown Prosecution Service, and sees Saunders told to get out of his vehicle in the incident on May 10.  An officer says: "Get the keys out, turn the engine off now.  "Your driving is atrocious. Have you had any alcohol?"  Saunders replied: "I've had one pint."  He was then seated in the back of the police car after an officer commented on how he could "hardly stand up".  Saunders reacted to the officer, and questioned: "Why are you saying I can't stand up?"  He was taken to a local police station and asked to provide a sample or face related charges.  Saunders asked an officer at the station: "Am I getting myself in more trouble by not doing it?"  An officer then said: "It has been explained to you but you have consistently refused to provide a sample."  He replied: "No, I haven't consistently refused to do anything. Have I refused to do anything?"  The situation is explained to Saunders on more than one occasion as he demands to wait for his lawyer, before asking: "Right now? Even though I am waiting for my solicitor?"  He later added: ""If I don't do it now, I'm only going to get in more s***."  The officer replied: "You will be charged with an offence."  Saunders appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on Wednesday and was sentenced to 10 weeks in jail.  Following his arrest, Saunders lawyer suggested his client's state may have been due to a mix between alcohol and medication he takes for knee injuries and his asthma inhaler.
