1, Teaching Certification (Online TEFL Course)
2, Teaching Headset - You need a comfortable headset. This is the exact ones I use. It has an on/off mic button which is essential if you want to mute yourself before or during class.
3, Fun & Education Background - I recommend getting a map because it is appealing to all age groups. You can glue it to the wall you will be using to teach.
4, Lighting - All company requires great lighting because the child needs to be able to see your lips move for great pronunciation practice. You can use a bright LED lamp or this simple options below.
5, Props - Most companies require at least 3 teaching props. I recommend using these 3; a puppet to help little kids talk and entertain them, letter cards to teach the alphabet, and a whiteboard.
6, Ethernet - Most companies ask that you teach using Ethernet. It allows you to have faster internet directly from the router and since you will be streaming in order to teach it helps. Teaching with ethernet means using a cable to connect the internet connection to your computer instead of Wifi. If you have a newer laptop or desktop, it may not have the port so I recommend using this Ethernet adapter and the cord. It isn't mandatory to have it but it does help make the internet connection stronger and Chinese companies love it.
7, Laptop / Computer Camera Cover - You will need to cover your camera sometimes before teaching in order to prevent the student from seeing you. It also helps with privacy during web browsing.
8, Attire - I recommend teaching with a solid color shirt or long sleeve (bright colors are recommended and the Orange color is proven to increase learning). Make sure your shoulders are covered and no low V-neck t-shirts (the Chinese respect modesty).
9, Laptop - If you are in need of a good teaching laptop I would recommend getting a Macbook Air or pro as they are reliable and inexpensive.
