How To Use Diminished Licks To Get That Gypsy Sound In Your Solos
In this lesson you'll learn how to get good at soloing in gypsy jazz.
This is especially useful for gypsy jazz guitarists who want to build confidence in their soloing.
The ONE thing you need to do everyday even if only for five minutes to get good at playing gypsy jazz soloing, is practice playing over chord changes.
One good technique to make your solos more interesting is using Diminished Harmony.
Let’s clear up the confusion surrounding this topic and get crystal clear!
Here's How To Do It:
Step 1. Identify dim shapes for E7
Step 2. Play over 'Minor Swing' using the dim shapes in place of E7
Step 3. Now try an arpeggio or a lick based from the dim shapes
Try this concept on other tunes & keys like,
'Dark Eyes' & 'Sweet Georgia Brown'
Also don't be afraid to leave space! This will make your solo even more musical :-)
Don't over think this but instead be consistent and actually do it every day.
In one weeks time you will notice the difference!
