Simplify your decision-making with this quick filter

Simplify your decision-making with this quick filter As a coach, I work with people to help them make important life decisions. Today I’d like to share with you a straightforward decision-making filter that I use for myself and with my coaching clients.

When you need to make a choice and your life there are only two questions to ask:

Why? Or why not?

Start by dividing a piece of paper in half and write down your why’s in one column and your why not’s under the other column.

Make sure that you dig deep and work from the end back. What I mean by that, use long-term thinking and impact when you are doing this exercise. So many people tend to focus on instant gratification - it’s a trap that tempts all of us...but resist that and focus on how you’ll feel in the long run.

Another reason why this technique seems to work is because the brain seems to like things that are scannable, and making a simple chart like this helps you process both columns with ease.

The beauty of this exercise is that it helps create an inside out approach to decision-making - allowing you to make choices that work best for you.

You will be able to see which choice is best for you. The why or the why not!

Try it on for size this upcoming week and let me know how it goes!
