Text: Habakkuk 2 vs 1 - 3.
OBJECTIVES
• To understand why possessing vision is important to life.
INTRODUCTION
It's important because the absence of vision can be equal to the wastage of life. Proverbs 29 vs 18. Life as a whole will be wasted where a person lives a life without vision.
MEANING OF VISION:
• Insight into God's purpose for a person's life. Accessing the mind of God for your life's purpose... Jeremiah 1 vs 5.
• Vision is access to God's original intention for a person's creation... Romans 8 vs 28.
• Vision is the mental picture of a desirable future. The internal photograph of future reality... Genesis 13 vs 14 - 15.
• Vision is the internal imagination of life's destination. An inner conscious definition of life's destination... Ephesians 3 vs 20.
WHY IS VISION NECESSARY
• Vision brings focus to life's pursuit thus helping to avoid the traps of distractions. Vision gives bearing to life. Life without a bearing is a burden... Philippians 3 vs 13 - 14, 1 Corinthians 9 vs 26.
• Vision brings action to life. It delivers people from the spell of idleness, indolence and laxity in life. Vision makes life active, dynamic and interesting. It gives you what to live for... Habakkuk 2 vs 2.
• Vision averts the tragedy of wasted time. Vision helps you to direct time. When time is not directed, it's effortlessly wasted. Time cannot be created nor stored... Ephesians 5 vs 15 - 16.
• Vision brings discipline to life. Vision does not only define where you are going in life, it also defines what you are to do to get there. Those who fly high don't carry heavy loads... Proverbs 29 vs 18.
• Vision defines association. What you are out to achieve in life determines who can have an allocation of space in your life. Vision implies a man headed in a direction and there is no basis of connection with someone not heading in your direction. Where someone have no Vision, everybody is a friend... Prov 27 vs 17.
WHAT IT TAKES FOR A VISION TO HAVE EARTHLY IMPACT AND ETERNAL REWARD
• The Vision must be God-originated and God-honoring. Every vision that excludes God may have earthly significant but no eternal reward... Hab 2 vs 1.
• The Vision must be People-oriented. It's beyond a selfish dream and fantasies. It must be beyond personal crave for fame. It must be impactful on people. When impact is made, income is natural.
