* I've always had a hard time establishing that "mind-muscle" connection when training deltoids. Meaning: I'D GET NO PUMP! We know how important it is to activate the target while lifting. I mean...it's important if you want results! The steering wheel exercise ROCKS the front and medial deltoid muscles with blood...and they can make your caps feel like they may pop!
* Our average MTFU member Level is age 50. And, with the shoulder being the most mobile joint in the body, it thus provides many avenues for instability, pain, injury...all of that. ESPECIALLY with advancing years. Steering wheels are GREAT as a maneuver used to cultivate better mobility.
* You have got to set yourself up correctly to benefit from this movement as I demonstrate in this video. You can use weights from a 5 pound dumbbell to a 45 pound Olympic plate-as long as you can handle it with good form and as long as you feel the stimulation in the anterior and medial deltoid/shoulder muscles.
