Michael Jackson Smooth Criminal piano cover is a little different from the normal piano covers. I originally did this for an electronic keyboard (a Yamaha MODX8) and used the synth for the initial intro part before switch to the piano. Without the synth, I tried using a slightly different technique, using my palm and rolling/rocking to get a deep rumble effect and then slide into the main part. It's funny, as you can see the lady on the left, and the family behind me not knowing what I was playing. Until just as it hits the bit the everyone recognises - they both react at the same time. I really like those spontaneous smiles, you see that even though they can't see each other - they share that exact moment together without realising. The power of music.
Also, the gentleman with the suticase who stands still as a statue, and then leaves shaking his head. I hope for good reason!
Played again at my favourite place - on the Elton John donated Yamaha piano at the London St Pancras International Train Station.
