In 1869, one Deaf student walked into a classroom in Pittsburgh, seeking an education. From those humble beginnings, the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf was born. Since that first student, WPSD has continued to strive to provide the highest quality academic, athletic, and extracurricular programs to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in Western Pennsylvania and throughout the Commonwealth.
