You sued your doctor for medical malpractice.
For causing you permanent injury.
He was careless and refuses to accept responsibility for his actions.
Your doctor denies all of your allegations.
During the course of your lawsuit, the attorneys who represent the doctors and hospital staff will have a chance to question you.
This is known as a deposition.
It's also called an examination before trial.
It's really nothing more than a question and answer session that takes place in our conference room.
There's no judge there.
There's no jury there.
But there is a court stenographer (we also call them court reporters) there to record all of the questions you're asked and all of your answers.
You should know something else...
The answers that you give in this informal setting, carry the SAME EXACT WEIGHT as if you are testifying at trial in front of a judge and jury.
Each lawyer will have a chance to question you.
Technically, each lawyer COULD ask the same questions as the attorney before him.
However, that's not reality.
The first attorney will take the lead and ask many background questions as well as what injuries you suffered. The same attorney will ask many detailed questions about your interactions with his client, one of the doctors you sued.
Then, when it's time for attorney #2 to question you, he will likely fill in the blanks and then focus on your interactions with doctor #2.
