Former Labour MP slams Jeremy Corbyn saying party is ‘racist and nasty’

Former Labour MP slams Jeremy Corbyn saying party is ‘racist and nasty’ A former MP has torn into her own party and leader Jeremy Corbyn, blasting Labour as a ‘nasty, racist party’.  Ruth Smeeth, the Labour candidate for Stoke-on-Trent North, said she had ‘definitely lost’ her seat, which she held since 2015 – and called on Mr Corbyn to resign.  She said: ‘Jeremy Corbyn’s actions on anti-semitism have made us the nasty party. We are the racist party.  ‘And when you have got a prime minister that has said such vile isalmaphobic comments and we are the racist party because of the actions of my leader and the lack of action of it and who he is associated with and his friends are, then we have a real real problem.  ‘The Labour party now needs to be detoxified, we need to move on and we need to make sure that this culture is destroyed within the Labour party, that racism has no place that there is no hierarchy of racism and that everybody makes it clear that Jews have a safe space in the Labour party because quite frankly they don’t at the moment.’ To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video  Labour has been dogged by accusations of anti-Semitism throughout the campaign.  Tearing into Mr Corbyn – who has now said he will not lead Labour into the next election – Ms Smeeth continued: ‘There is absolutely no justification for why he’s still there.’  The Labour leader and those around him have suggested that Brexit is the main reason for Labour’s dismal showing, while Mr Corbyn’s critics have tried to place the blame on him and his platform. By first of all having this general election when they were so ill prepared for it but then having this option available to the country, having this platform, having this leadership and allowing this devastation to hit all of our communities.  ‘This is an appalling, heartbreaking night for the Labour party but I am much much more worried about now what happens to my constituents.’
