On Wednesday the Audiophiliac was shaken and stirred by Magnepan's "concept speaker," it was significantly better sounding than any Magnepan he's ever heard. The listening session took place at the Audio Connection store in Verona, NJ. The technology is ready to go, the company just needs to make the production speaker look as good as it sounds.
It's not going to be affordably priced, but state of the art products never are. However, it will come in for significantly less than the company's current flagship, the 30.7 ($30K per pair). I'm hoping the tech will trickle down the line in a few short years.
I'm excited by what I heard from the concept speaker, and the promise it holds.
The speaker, which so far doesn't have a name will be heard by the public at the Axpona show in Chicago in April.
