After Winter Solstice we see a gradual increase in daylight hours. It causes photoperiodism, the physiological reaction of organisms to the length of night and day. A number of biological and behavioral changes occur in the eagles, such as increased courtship behaviors and nesting activities.

Big Bear eagles used to lay in early January. And last year Jackie laid in March, which is unusual for this territory. Additionally, other SoCal eagles may lay as late as April. All of the above does not give us many clues as to when it will happen. (:
