It’s been described as hell on earth. Massive bushfires have turned a huge area of East Gippsland into a disaster zone. There are grave fears tonight for four people listed as missing In Mallacoota, four thousand locals and tourists have been forced to huddle on the waterfront to survive the inferno raging around them.
Many homes have been burnt to the ground in a disaster zone that stretches east from Bairnsdale, through Sarsfield and Bruthen, and all the way to the New South Wales border.
