After waiting numerous years for the "license plate in the sky" system known as Remote ID, the FAA handed down a proposal that negates many of the industries recommendations. In the name of security, the Remote ID system proposed an expensive, Network based solution that would increase costs, inhibit privacy and drastically reduce the efficiency that drones provide to businesses.
Model airplanes and helicopters would really get the blunt end of the shaft while the industry oks mass surveillance.
Co-Founder Paul Aitken breaks down why Remote ID is so bad for pilots and the industry as-a-whole. Paul showcases what options pilots have and what a good remote ID system may look like.
Will your existing drones work in the system? No.. because they don't utilize the correct serial number system.
Is there any drone that negates these rules? Yes... the Mavic Mini.
