He Set Me Free

He Set Me Free "Now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:22-23)

It is common knowledge that Hank Williams borrowed the melody of "He Set Me Free" when he wrote "I Saw the Light". This hymn was written in 1939 by Albert E. Brumley, who wrote over 800 songs, including "I'll Fly Away" and "I'll Meet You in the Morning".
