Hello everyone, I created a video to share my thoughts- I feel that as a nation in Singapore, we are actually very vulnerable. Instead of doing our best efforts to prevent the virus from coming, statistically, our leader actually chose to allow some coronavirus attacks to leak in (By not doing best to prevent). And this is something that I cannot comprehend and scares me. I mean, we're talking about human lives, right? I believe that different Countries & World Leaders MUST step up their strategies to fight against Corona Virus! Lives are at stake and it is not just the economy, businesses or diplomatic reasons that we should think about!
Given the current situation in China, the strategies implemented by leaders in my country (Singapore), and the measures they took, I cannot help but feel that we should do more to stop this virus from spreading. Our leaders are going the right direction (Banning Hubei Passports), but I can't help but feel that they are afew days slow and siting on the fence, being a little too passive? Waiting for something bigger to happen? (Maybe waiting for 10 - 20 local human to human transmissions? before stepping up?) Why not do more to prevent it all together?
For example, even if they could not ban all the China visitors from coming into Singapore, more could be done to stop them from actually spreading the virus from within.
And I believe this situation is not just my country but for many other countries as well. But do understand that our population density is very high and therefore how we fight the virus is a different battle as well. It will not be easy.
There is no cure for the virus yet, and we are still letting the attacks come to us. It might be true that our hospital staff are better trained since the sars incident in 2003, but why put them through this situation so early? Shouldn't we setup a good outer line of defense first, and try our best to avoid the whole fight from within? I believe we can definitely setup a better way of quarantine zone method/defense against this virus than letting people from other provinces of China come in so quickly.
I believe that for humanity to survive, different countries and nations need to be able to set up very safe areas in very decisive manner, so as to effectively help other nations. (I'm just thinking what if the virus is alot stronger it will be super terrifying)
The fight against the Corona Virus will be a long fight. I did not meant to say our government is doing a bad job because maybe they have other considerations and perspective that I cannot understand, and I am not sure if my strategy was good enough but I was hoping we can start a conversation to hopefully pressure our leaders to implement a better strategy than the current one.
And also, I have said in my video- I don't agree with NTU, NUS & SMU hostel. Why these hostels? Why not just one area to quarantine all? There must be a better way.
