Govt to overhaul lacklustre humanitarian refugee English skills The government will overhaul English language courses for humanitarian refugees in an attempt to improve the jobless rate and settle more new arrivals in regional areas.

Data reveals 77 per cent of refugees are still unemployed a year after their arrival and only 21 per cent of all humanitarian refugees taken in have any functional level of English.

Population Minister Alan Tudge told the Australian the government will trial a reformed program by July 1.
