ARC EN CIEL Primary School The Arc En Ciel Primary School is a collaborative project which aims to bring alphabetization and primary education to the rural community of Tanambao in southern Madagascar.
The project started by the end of 2018 thanks to the financial support of the foundation „Stiftung Hilfswerk Deutscher Zahnärzte“ and it is going to be completed by the July 2019 thanks to the joint effort of the local order „Filles de la Charité“ and the Arbeitskreis „Eine Welt“ e.V. Mettingen.
The order Filles de la Charité is already active in Tsihombe, a nearby urban centre about 10 km away from Tanambao, and in the past decades they have undertaken several projects and programs in the city and its surrounding, for the betterment of the community life conditions.
In fact they are already running a primary and secondary school, an alphabetization centre, a female boarding school, evening school for adults and a food bank in the city of Tsihombe and their goal is to provide access to a better education and health conditions also to the inhabitants of the surrounding rural areas.
In the village of Tanambao is already existing a primary school that hosts three classes and a total of sixty pupils. Unfortunately the school building, made out of local materials such as dry grass and tree branches, is deeply affected by the whether conditions. As result it is often impossible for the children to have access to it, especially during rain season.
The construction of the new school is fundamental to ensure the continuity of the lessons during all seasons and a safer environment for its pupils. Furthermore it will offer a total of five classrooms in order to implement the number of students for a more extended and inclusive program.
The financial support received so far is enough to complete the construction of the school rooms but for its interiors we need your help!
With this crowdfunding campaign we are in fact trying to collect money to built the necessary interior furnitures such as tables, benches, blackboards, shelves and electrical devices.

About us: we are two architects based in Berlin, who have taken a break from their office jobs and came to Madagascar as volunteers to join the local workers at the construction site of this school.
