10 Black Actors Who Didn’t Feel So Great Playing Characters We Loved

10 Black Actors Who Didn’t Feel So Great Playing Characters We Loved I think it’s safe to say that we can be a little too invested in our television characters. You can chalk that up to the fact that because there’s so little representation, we have a tendency to hold on tight when we see Black and brown faces on screen. And while there were certain characters we loved, the real people who played them might not have had those same warm fuzzy feelings. Whether their reasons were personal, the work environment was toxic, or the final product didn’t live up to their expectations, here are a few examples of Black stars who had some form of resentment around playing the characters we adored. Jackee Harry as “Sandra Clark” on “227” Erika Alexander as “Cousin Pam” on “The Cosby Show” Taraji P. Henson as “Detective Joss Carter” on “Person of Interest” Jaleel White as “Myrtle Urkel” on “Family Matters” Tiffany Boone as “Jerrika ” on “The Chi” Tisha Campbell as “Gina” on “Martin” Idris Elba as “Heimdall” in Thor: The Dark World John Amos as “James Evans” on “Good Times” Chris Tucker as “Smokey” in Friday
