Axis Mutual Fund is one of India’s top 10 Asset Management Companies.
It is a joint venture between Axis Bank and Schroders, a British multinational asset management company, founded in 1804.
The AMC was incorporated in October 2009
and today has over
Rs. 1 lakh crore assets under management.
Today the fund houses over 20 lakh investor accounts
and is present in more than 90 cities in India.
Axis Mutual Fund is led by:
Chandresh Kumar Nigam who is the MD & CEO.
Some of the key members of the team include:
Jinesh Gopani who is the Head of Equities and has experience of over 13 years.
He also manages some of the top-performing funds like Axis Long Term Equity Fund, and Axis Focused 25 Fund.
R Sivakumar who is the Head of Fixed Income.
Some of the funds he manages are Axis Child Gift Fund, Dynamic Bond Fund and Debt part of various hybrid funds

Axis Bluechip Fund:
Axis Bluechip Fund is a large-cap category fund and was launched in 2010. It has an AUM of over Rs. 8000 crore today.
Although it is a relatively new entrant in the large cap category, it has beaten both its benchmarks in the 7 of 8 years since launch.
The fund has given 12.25% returns since inception.
It’s 3-year returns are 14.99% which is around 5% more than the category average.
The fund has still not seen a big falling market like 2008, so its downside protection capability still needs to be tested.
Axis Long Term Equity Fund
Axis Long Term Equity is the biggest fund in the ELSS category. It was launched in 2009 and today has AUM of over Rs. 20,000 crores.
The fund invests mostly in large and mid-sized companies
with a 65-80% allocation to large caps and remaining to mid-caps.
It has been a consistent performer since its launch, having beaten both its benchmark and category returns in all years except 2016.
The fund has delivered 17.36% returns since inception.
It’s 5-year returns are 13.03% which is around 4% more than the category average.
Axis Focused 25 Fund:
Axis Focused 25 Fund, as the name suggests, is a focused fund. It was launched in 2012 and today has an AUM of over Rs. 8,000 crore.
The fund runs a compact portfolio, hand-picking stocks based on the company’s pricing power and durable competitive advantage.
It has around 80% allocation in large caps and the remaining in mid-sized companies.
The fund has delivered 16.05% returns since inception.
It’s 5-year returns are 13.86% and it has beaten both benchmark and the category returns by around 4%.
