A Trains N' Stuff extra: A few trains in the Portland Area.

A Trains N' Stuff extra: A few trains in the Portland Area. Before I had access to a computer where I could save all my videos and get an editor, I would delete most of the stuff that I had (in terms of videos from the previous outing) and that would be that. Unbeknownst why, I saved a few of those videos. So here they are, in a little compilation.

1) Amtrak Cascades flies northbound through the small community of Felida, Washington. The town is looking for ways to implement a "Quiet Zone" at this crossing, due to the numerous houses along the road. This was the first shot I had ever taken of a "Charger", as they were new to service in late 2017, and as far as I know, this is the first shot ever of a Charger leading in this location.

2) It's New Years day and we're trackside at Multnomah Falls (this was actually a family outing, so I couldn't bring my tripod) and I see a stop signal off in the distance, which means a westbound train was approaching. I set up and wait. Eventually, lights. So I turn my camera on and out flies this beast of a grain train, wasting no time headed to Portland. What makes this train even better is the lashup. A Union Pacific ES44AC up front, and Canadian Pacific AC4400CW, ES44AC, and AC4400CW trailing. Also, note the Kansas City Southern grain hopper (the black one). If anyone can give me the numbers of the locomotives, please state them in the description and I'll pin the comment.

3) Back in Portland, just west of Union Station...on 3/19/19, we set up here to catch a train, we wound up catching the westbound Empire Builder, with a wave from the engineer (not seen from the camera) as it slows down for it's station stop.

4) Same day, after visiting Horn Alley and witnessing an interesting meet, we head to Vancouver. When we get there, via 11th St, the gates are down, so I hop out of the car and set my tripod down for this EB manifest. Friendly crew at least, and another cool catch with an NS ES44DC sandwiched between two BNSF GEVOs.

Thanks for watching! Stay tuned for the next video, whenever that will be. Sooner rather than later. However, this may be my last video for a bit due to school starting up on Wednesday for me, but I'll try to get another one in later of these last few days of summer if I can.

Area.
